Controller Setup Guide

General Controller Support

3 Nights of Terror supports all major controllers (PlayStation, Xbox, and others) via Steam Input. You can plug in your controller and play.

However, please read the important notes below before starting!

⚠️ Critical: L1/R1 Remapping Required

This is the most important step before playing with a controller.

By default, Steam Input maps L1 (Left Bumper) and R1 (Right Bumper) to Mouse Scroll Up and Mouse Scroll Down. The game does not recognize scroll input. Meaning if you leave this default mapping in place, L1 and R1 will simply not work in-game.

You must remap L1 and R1 to any other input before playing. Here is how:

1. Open Steam and go to your Library

2. Click on → View controller settings

3. Click on → Edit Layout

4. Find the L1 and R1 bindings and Remap both to any alternative button or key that works for you

5. Save the configuration and launch the game

🖱️ Mouse Still Required

Even with a fully configured controller, certain puzzles require mouse interaction and cannot be solved with a controller alone.

We recommend playing with a controller + mouse on your desk, or simply using keyboard + mouse throughout.
